Meet the Director

Director of the Video Production Camp American Heritage South Florida

Maria Molina is a self-taught journalism adviser with degrees in business law and computer science. She was originally hired to fill a computer science teaching position, but as she was supervising the computer lab, the yearbook and newspaper staffs were in the lab working, and that’s when she fell in love with storytelling. “I found it to be a great way for students to express what was going on in the world around them,” Ms. Molina says. She designed the curriculum for a computer science class utilizing iMovie, which grew into the national award-winning broadcast program at American Heritage today. Ms. Molina is still amazed at, when given the tools, her students can take pictures, capture video, and edit a story in fascinating ways. She plans to teach this type of media for the rest of her career.
